Responsibilities

Responsibilities for reporting the accident are described in our key points section. In addition to these:

BBC Safety will;
  • Maintain the accident database
  • Report serious accidents ("RIDDORs") to the HSE and cases of ill health to EMAS.
  • Support those leading any investigation
  • Act as Lead Investigators for the most serious accidents
  • Compile and report information about incidents to Corporate and Divisional safety and management forums.
Group or Divisional Management will;
  • Nominate lead accident investigator
  • Review findings of accidents at management and safety forums
  • Review statistics of accidents at safety and management forums
  • Ensure that managers are reviewing and investigating accidents
Safety Forums will;
  • Review outcomes of investigations; Instigate investigations
  • Review trends and statistics
  • Make recommendations and share learning with other forums
