Layout and Format
Environmental risks are elements of BBC activities, products and services that can interact with the environment. They include air emissions, water discharges, solid and liquid waste, energy consumption, and noise.
Environmental risks are elements of BBC activities, products and services that can interact with the environment. They include air emissions, water discharges, solid and liquid waste, energy consumption, and noise.
Environmental risks are characterised and
evaluated using a process of risk assessment. The findings
provide a basis for prioritising risk assessed as significant
according to the likelihood of occurrence and the severity of their
potential impact on the environment. The results of this
assessment are recorded in the BBC Environmental Risk Register
which is accessible via myRisks Information gateway site. For
each of the registered significant risk, control measures have been
identified, documented and implemented in order to prevent or
reduce the impact of that risk upon the environment.
Environmental risks and associated control
measures are reviewed on an annual basis as a minimum, by those
responsible for developing Risk Registers at both Corporate and
Divisional levels. The register is updated to incorporate new
or modified processes, activities and services.
