Procurement of Alternative Equipment

Recommendations for alternative equipment
To obtain the recommended equipment, the member of staff with access to Quick order should follow the steps below:
  • To order, type the name of item in the search section of Quick Order.The main supplier for such equipment is Osmonds.
  • If the item does not appear, this means it is not on the approved list and you should contact Osmonds for further advice and prices.
  • Items, correctly ordered, will be sent out on the next working day to the customer. There was an arrangement with Osmonds for the item to be returned undamaged in 30 days if found unsuitable.
  • Payment for the item will be 30 days from date of order.
Ordering Chairs

London: Ring BBC Workplace on 047 to request for assistance with the procurement, stating clearly the recommendation from Occupational Health.

Nations & Regions: Please ring your local Facilities for help on this matter, informing them of the advice from Occupational Health.
BBC Workplace or local Facilities Management have their own arrangements on chair loans and purchase.

If you are unclear about the recommendations please check with the OH Adviser responsible for the report before you order the item.

Staff with disabilities
BBC HR Direct's Access Unit advises on appropriate equipment e.g. voice recognition software, JAWS etc working together with the staff member and manager. After an assessment by the Access Unit, they will advise on reasonable adjustment recommendations and sources and procures the equipment (that isn't covered by steps 1 or 2 or via Siemens) with a subsidy from government.
