Key Points
- All EEE placed on the UK market must have the 'crossed out wheelie bin symbol' and information for consumers about correct WEEE disposal.
- EEE Producers must register with a Producer Compliance Scheme for each compliance period where they have EEE on the UK market.
- Central BBC divisions should only purchase EEE for prizes and promotions through the official procurement route to ensure these items are covered by the BBC's distributor Take-Back scheme.
- Due to the complexity of their operations and the volumes of EEE handled, commercial BBC divisions (e.g. BBC Worldwide and its subsidiaries) should register separately with the distributor take Take-back scheme run by Valpak.
- All BBC WEEE waste must be segregated from
general waste and sent to an Approved Authorised Treatment Facility
for reprocessing. Please see the Waste
Storage and Disposal guidelines for further information.
