Guidance for Divisions with Producer Obligations
Divisions that are obligated as a 'Producer' under the WEEE regulations (see detail in section 1 - definitions of EEE), must:
  • Join a producer compliance scheme for each compliance period, running from 1st January to 31st December, or within 28 days of putting EEE on the UK market. There are a number of producer compliance schemes available on the open market and divisions should choose the most appropriate scheme for their operations.
  • Arrange to take back of all WEEE from consumers at end of life. The producer compliance scheme will provide information on how the division can manage this.
  • Ensure all EEE it sells contains consumer information about the correct disposal of the product in line with the requirements of the producer compliance scheme.
  • Ensure all products include the 'crossed out wheelie bin' symbol.
  • Ensure its producer identification mark and a manufacturing date mark are included with all products.
  • Keep accurate records of all EEE manufactured, imported and placed on the market.
