Guidance for Divisions with Producer Obligations

Divisions that are obligated as a 'Producer' under the WEEE regulations (see detail in section 1 - definitions of EEE), must:

Join a producer compliance scheme for each compliance period, running from 1st January to 31st December, or within 28 days of putting EEE on the UK market. There are a number of producer compliance schemes available on the open market and divisions should choose the most appropriate scheme for their operations.
Arrange to take back of all WEEE from consumers at end of life. The producer compliance scheme will provide information on how the division can manage this.
Ensure all EEE it sells contains consumer information about the correct disposal of the product in line with the requirements of the producer compliance scheme.
Ensure all products include the 'crossed out wheelie bin' symbol.
Ensure its producer identification mark and a manufacturing date mark are included with all products.
Keep accurate records of all EEE manufactured, imported and placed on the market.
