Health and Safety Representatives - Managers Guidelines
Introduction
The BBC has a duty to consult with accredited safety representatives and staff, with a view to making and maintaining arrangements which enable managers and staff to co-operate effectively.
Their goal should be to:
- To promote and develop measures to ensure the health and safety at work of staff,
and,
- to check those measures are effective.
The aim is to ensure that where the health and safety of staff will be substantially affected, that;
- there is effective consultation with safety representatives and staff about health and safety at local level
- opportunity is provided for the experience and knowlwdge of the safety representatives and staff to inform the development of working practices
- the BBC complies with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act (HASAWA), the Safety Representatives and Safety ommittees Regulations (SRSC) and the Consultation with Employees Regulations
- the arrangements do not over lap with the collective bargaining structure.
