Legionnaire's Disease

Legionella organisms are widespread in natural water sources and have been found in rivers, lakes, mud and soil. However, Legionella can also colonise man-made recirculating water systems such as storage tanks, calorifiers and air conditioning systems. Legionnaires' disease is a form of pneumonia caused by legionella bacteria, where as Legionellosis, is any illness caused by exposure to legionella, including legionnaire's disease.
