High Voltage

Work on high-voltage equipment (i.e. voltages exceeding 1000 V a.c. or 1500 V d.c. between conductors, or 600 V a.c. or 900 V d.c. between conductors and Earth) may only be undertaken under a permit to work.

Only competent and suitably qualified personnel may work with high voltages.

There must never be lone working or live working with high voltages.
Equipment must be isolated, earthed and checked before any work begins.

All work with live mains electricity of any voltage must be considered high risk, and must only be carried out by suitably trained and competent persons.
