Key Points

To carry out rope access work, the production must:

• Appoint a suitable Competent Person / Rope Access Supervisor to plan and mange the work
• Verify their competence
• Liaise with the Competent Person to plan and co-ordinate the work
• Liaise with others involved to ensure they know what is required, including getting copies of risk assessments
• Ensure all involved are fit and capable of carrying out the work, including appropriately trained if necessary
• Obtain and check the risk assessment from the Competent Person
• Complete the production risk assessment, incorporating information from the Competent Person
• Monitor compliance with the risk assessment on location
• Manage any 'last minute' changes with the Competent Person.
