Key Points

Those responsible for assessing and managing risk from an activity must:
  • Complete the BBC training for risk assessment
  • Complete a risk assessment when you expose persons to significant risk of injury / ill-health
  • Be clear about the activity being assessed
  • Use the BBC risk assessment process
  • When working with third parties, obtain and check risk assessments from them where their activities present a significant risk
  • Ensure your risk assessment is authorised prior to it being used / relied on
  • Communicate the significant findings of your risk assessment to those exposed to the risks identified
  • Review the content of your risk assessment regularly to ensure it is accurate
  • Modify your assessment if significant changes occur
  • Keep a record of your risk assessment for at least 3 years.
