Record Keeping and statistics

BBC Safety will keep corporate incident records on a database. These central records may be supported by departmental records of investigations. Records will be kept for a minimum of 6 years from the date of the accident unless there is a longer statutory requirement. Records of any incident involving asbestos will be kept for 40 years. All potential evidence, e.g. event logs, equipment involved in an accident, photographs or video footage must be labelled, dated and retained securely for at least six years. Records less than 6 years old (40 years for Asbestos) must not be destroyed without contacting   BBC Safety . BBC Safety must be contacted by managers involved in departmental reorganisations and outsourcing to determine the retention of any departmental accident records. Wherever possible supporting documents should be attached to the electronic accident report where this is not possible the report should record where the supporting data is held.

Statistics about incidents can be produced from myRisks. myRisks has a series of off-the-shelf reports which should be discussed by relevant departmental and divisional management and safety meetings. BBC Safety will produce more detailed analysis in order to inform senior management and others about the safety performance of the BBC and identify future priorities.

Statistics and analysis will be reported at least quarterly to Divisional and Corporate Safety Forums and to the Executive Board and or the Business Direction Group.
