Self Op Shooting

'Self-Op' (or DV) shooting is a production technique which involves programme-makers themselves operating camcorders and sound equipment to shoot all or part of a programme. This includes lightweight 'consumer' style kit as well as larger professional broadcast equipment, and covers shoots for transmission as well as 'recce shoots' and rehearsals. Its suitability for your shoot will be dependent on the location, the nature of the filming, as well as editorial and craft issues.

Further guidance can be found in the Camera Operations section.
