Independants and Independant Productions
Key Points
- All those involved in the commissioning process
for Independents must understand and follow the BBC's Health &
Safety Vetting procedures
- The process will be delayed if the Independent
does not send in the right information
- Independents must complete all the questions on
the questionnaire fully, and if referring to another document,
reference it to the subsection
- Vetting must be done every 3 years
- If the company has changed production genres,
they must be re vetted
- The BBC must not become actively involved in the
safety management of Independent Production
Companies. The only exception to this rule is if
the Independent is participating in High
Risk Work e.g. deployments to hostile
environments, undertaking certain high risk activities and
involvement in high risk events
- BBC Managers who loan out staff
to Independent Production Companies must ensure that the staff are
competent to undertake the work and that the Independent has
carried out a risk assessment and that the findings of the risk
assessment have been communicated to the staff member.
