Workplace Transport and Driving
Common Questions

Do delivery drivers need to know our site rules?
Yes, where external deliveries are made to site, the delivery driver should be made aware of the BBC site arrangements.

Who is responsible for workplace transport?
This depends on who manages the site.  It could be BBC facilities management or BBC Workplace, or it could be a contractor.  Speak to the local facilities management, there should be a nominated person who deals specifically with workplace transport.

What is the speed limit around BBC sites?
This depends on the site and the risks on site.  Some area where the vehicles are separated from pedestrians by barriers, there is a good well lit road, may have a higher limit than whre it is not possible to separate vehicles and pedestrians.

There are vehicles parked in places on site which I think are dangerous what should I do?
If you think something may cause harm, then you have a legal duty to do something about it (putting aside the moral duty).  You should contact the facilities management team and express your concern, an ask them what they are going to do about it.

I'm planning a location shoot and we will be parking vehicles in a field, do I need to paint lines etc?
Even on location you need to manage the vehicle movements.  The first rule is exclude them if possible, if not, segregate them from people and try to park them out of the way.  Control the situation as much as possible.  Your risk assessment should cover this issue and if you need a Safety Advisor to assist you then contact Ask AL - Safety Advice Line.
