  • Obtain a completed Dive Project Plan and Risk Assessment from the diving contractor BEFORE the dive takes place;
  • Ensure that no presenter, artiste or contributor who is, or may be, pregnant dives;
  • Ensure that no presenter, artiste or contributor who is under 12 dives;
  • Ensure that any presenter, artist or contributor has an appropriate current diving qualification eg, PADI/BSAC and that they do not exceed their depth limitations;
  • Ensure that all divers including presenters, artists, contributors, trainees have appropriate certificates of medical fitness from an HSE medical examiner when diving in UK or suitable equivalent when abroad;
  • Follow the advice of the dive contractor regarding surface interval time and interval before moving to altitude, attempting another dive or flying. The Production must never pressurise a diver into diving or flying earlier than the calculated surface interval times;
  • Ensure that any accidents or untoward incidents are reported immediately in the normal manner to both their line manager and BBC Safety.
