This guidance is for managers & staff who
may be exposed in their work to substances which can cause skin
irritations or rashes. This is known as occupational dermatitis
Occupational dermatitis are skin conditions caused by a person's
work.
Occupational dermatitis is caused by contact
with certain substances at work, however, you can also get
dermatitis from many things that you are exposed to outside of
work.
Occupational dermatitis occurs when a substance
you work with causes direct chemical or physical damage to your
skin. Damage occurs when a substance penetrates the surface layer
of the skin & causes a reaction.
It is different to what is known as Atopic
Dermatitis. This is a condition which is often associated with a
personal or family history of asthma, eczema and other
conditions.
