Ordering and Returning Equipment
Any one authorised (identified on the risk assessment form) can either sign kit out in person, or obtain it by using an order form. Requests can also be placed via phone or email Safety Equipment Stores.
When ordering equipment, staff must produce a
completed risk assessment form. The assessment form must clearly
identify:
- The producer; editor; manager; who has agreed that the production / assignment can go ahead.
- Before equipment can be issued a charge code, name of production, name of the sap authoriser, collection date and return date must be given.
- All staff deploying to Category 1 & 2 Hostile Environments must, also, have contacted the High Risk Team and completed an Assignment Outline. This Assignment Outline must also be shown to the BBC Safety Equipment Stores Operative. When the safety equipment is required at short notice, e.g. short notice news assignments, the relevant risk assessment must be presented to the Stores Operative by the quickest means possible e.g. fax / e-mail. Short notice checklists are accepted but must be backed by a thorough risk assessment.
Returning safety equipment
- Equipment must be returned directly to the BBC Safety Equipment Store.
- All equipment must be returned in good order. Any damage or loss will be charged to the responsible department.
- Safety Equipment must be returned by the agreed return date otherwise this will incur additional charges.
