We have devised a method of adapting a
piece of equipment to suit our production need, is this OK?

There is a short notice programme need
for a range of DIY equipment to be demonstrated, some of which we
have no previous experience. Although we have some willing
volunteers I am hesitant what should I do?
In these circumstances it is always advisable
to engage a competent demonstrator with the equipment so that you
can be sure of the competency of the operator.
In a re enactment of an accident for a
documentary we have access to the original machinery, can we use
it?
Only if it has been fully repaired and
appropriately certificated as being fit for purpose. You will of
course still require a competent operator to operate it.
We have a
new piece of imported equipment which we are keen to demonstrate.
Unfortunately the instructions are not in English, we have a rough
idea of what to do can we go ahead with the
demonstration?
No for a risk assessment to be suitable and
sufficient the risks must be reduced to as low as is reasonably
practicable without instructions you cannot satisfy this
requirement.
