Remotely Controlled Equipment

This is equipment or machinery which can be activated or energised from a position that is remote from the area where the resulting action will have effect.

The manager responsible for remotely controlled equipment must ensure that people are not put at risk when it is activated, e.g. by becoming trapped or crushed. This may be achieved by careful siting of equipment, by safe systems of work, by permits to work, etc.. Warning notices must be placed at all entrances.
