Common Questions

What do we do if we want a heater in the office, for additional heating?
I ensure housekeeping issues are addressed?
Regular safety inspections should pick up any housekeeping problems, the subject can also be raised at team meetings.

Who should I contact before I undertake an office reorganisation?
Contact your local Facilities Manager, and obtain initial advice from BBC Safety.

How much space should there be behind each workstation chair?
You should be able to get to and from your desk safely. As a rule of thumb there should be a clear walkway of around 2 feet to your desk.  Where desks are squeezed in closely together, the 2 feet distance should be between the backs of chairs when people are seated normally.

It feels very dry in our office, how can we improve this situation?
Having plants in the office can help to improve humidity.

I seem to sit in a draught in our office, what can I do about this?
Speak to Facilities Management to see if they can alter the angle of the ventilation grilles.

What can be done about our stuffy office?
Talk to Facilities Management and ask them to check if the system is working properly.
