Vehicles on Productions
Key Points

  • Your risk assessment must include the safe use and operation of all vehicles you will deploy.
  • Be clear about the intended use of the vehicle and ensure it is 'fit for purpose' (i.e. designed for the use you wish to make of it).
  • Check to see whether you have to use a Vetted Contractor.
  • Ensure any statutory paperwork is provided.
  • Consider where the vehicle will be used, how it will get there and be rigged/de-rigged especially where external power supplies are required for technical vehicles.
  • Depending on the vehicle type and use, identify particular hazards such as overhead power lines for vehicles with masts and the storage on site of hazardous substances.
  • Consider environmental impact of vehicles used, for example, with re-fuelling and disposal of any waste generated.
  • Be clear about who has responsibility for the safe operation of each vehicle at each stage of its use.
