Physical Effects
Key Points

The term 'physical effects' covers a wide variety of activities some of which may be simple and involve lower levels of risk and others which are highly technical and in involve high levels of risk. Key points are:
  • Competence - contractors should have the appropriate experience and knowledge to produce the desired effects safely
  • Co-operation & Co-ordination - Production departments will need to co-operate with planning and execution to ensure effects sequences go smoothly
  • Control - It must be clear who is in control of the various stages of the effect; this may vary, for example, the 1st assistant director, stunt co-ordinator or SFX supervisor.
