What fire protection should be provided for an apparatus room?
All apps rooms should be enclosed in a 1 hour fire resisting structure. Consideration should be given on a fire suppression system and very early smoke detection apparatus. This depends on the criticality of the room.

Can I have a toaster in my area? 
Only in a ventilated kitchen area where smoke will not set off automatic fire detection equipment.  Surrounding risks should also be taken into account.

How can I store tapes?
Less than 200 can be stored in a fireproof cabinet. More than 200 should be in fire resisting store (1 hour).

Why should we install sprinklers?
It is a requirement of some local building acts and is necessary to maintain the fire engineering principles of a building.  It is also an insurance requirement and is necessary to meet BBC Guidance on property and asset protection.
