Asbestos
Key Points
- Find out from a reliable source if the Building/Location has any asbestos or Asbestos Containing Materials.
- Avoid breathing in asbestos fibres as a person can only be exposed to asbestos if the fibres are disturbed into the air and inhaled.
- Asbestos Containing Materials in good condition can be left in place and monitored.
- Any exposure to asbestos must be avoided and the risk greatens as the level, duration and frequency of exposure increases.
- The increased risk to health from a one-off accidental exposure is negligible and not normally a cause for concern.
- All exposures to asbestos dust, or asbestos fibres, must be reported to your line manager and the Asbestos Management Team and recorded within the personnel file using the BBC Asbestos Exposure Record Form.
