Common Questions

How do I find out if an area of land is in a nature reserve, national park, conservation area etc?
Checks can be made using the English Nature's website if in England.
Checks can be made using the Countryside Council for Wales website if in Wales.
Checks can be made using the Scottish Natural Heritage website if in Scotland.
Or the Environmental Natural Heritage Service website if in Northern Ireland

What does a tree preservation order mean?
A Tree Preservation Order (TPO) is made by the local planning authority (usually a local council) to protect specific trees or particular woodland from deliberate damage and destruction. TPOs prevent the felling, lopping, topping, uprooting or otherwise wilful damaging of trees without the permission of the local planning authority.
