Weapons and Amourers
Key Points
- Any firearm, air gun, starting pistol or similar
weapon when in the UK must be under the control of a vetted
armourer
- There can be exceptions for replicas and
deactivated weapons but each occasion must be risk assessed and
cleared with BBC Safety.
- Outside the UK a competent local armourer may be
engaged if they meet the vetting
criteria
- The competent person in control of the weapon
must be present whenever the firearm, arrow, projectile or
missile is being discharged or a sharp edged sword/knife is used
for a programme sequence
- It is always best practice to inform local
police when using weapons and especially where there is a
possibility of the public being concerned.
