Children,Young People and Work Experience
The Working Environment
Before children arrive at the premises /
location, inspect the area to identify and remove hazards e.g.
sharp blades, un-guarded drops, etc. - hazards which children may
not understand or be aware of
When they arrive provide the child and their
chaperone with an induction. This briefing should include a
walk-round of the premises / location, explanation of any local
rules (e.g. no-go areas), what to do in an emergency, welfare and
first aid arrangements, etc
We need to make sure that children are not
subjected to excessive noise and, should reduce any noise as low as
reasonably practicable, ensuring that their exposure will not
exceed 85dbA for more than 4 hrs.
