Key Points

  • The appointment of the Responsible Person (Fire Safety).*
  • Ensure a fire risk assessment is carried out by a competent person and all requirements are suitably recorded and actions reviewed.  See the Fire Risk Assessment Management Process for more details.
  • Take such general fire precautions as will ensure as far as reasonably practicable the safety of any employees.
  • In relation to persons who are not employees, take such general fire precautions as may reasonably be required in the circumstances of the case to ensure that the premises are safe.
  • For permanent workplaces the Responsible Person should prepare and maintain a Building Fire Manual
