Fire Safety in Studios and on Location
Studio Effects

  • Smoke obscuration density should not be such as to affect vision on means of escape in case of fire.
  • Where the building has an automatic fire detection system installed the smoke effect should not interfere with normal operation wherever possible.  Isolation of detectors should be as a "last resort" only and not a normal practice.  Some fire detectors (ionisation) are less sensitive to cosmetic smoke than others (optical).  Any isolation of fire detectors should be strictly controlled by building management.
