Fire Safety in Studios and on Location
Key Points

In all situations, the following principles apply.  There must be:

  • Suitable measures to minimise the likelihood of fire.
  • Adequate arrangements to warn people of fire.
  • Adequate escape routes and exits.
  • Where appropriate, adequate exit and other signs.
  • Where appropriate, adequate emergency lighting.
  • Adequate fire fighting equipment.
  • Adequate instruction of all employees and others.
  • In longer term work, adequate maintenance and testing of fire precautions.
  • Appropriate flame retardance of sets, scenic materials and props.
  • All premises should be approved by the Fire Safety Manager prior to occupation.
