Planning
- Children are not exposed to any activity or situation which them at increased risk of injury or ill-health or is specifically prohibited in law
- Those who may supervise children alone are CRB checked and trained e.g. chaperones, first aiders, interviewers, teacher
- Risk assessment for the activity and particular measures needed for the children
- Schedule work with breaks and refreshments
- Send letters to parents / guardians covering the child protection measures and the health and safety arrangements in place
- Where a child is to participate in any physical activity obtain a fitness to participate form from GP
- Ensure staff who have contact with the children know what is expected of them making sure that first aiders are qualified to treat children
- Where groups of children are supervised use DFES guidelines.
On the day:
- Check location, removing any hazards
- Provide induction to the children and their chaperones with an induction. Explain to the child and their guardian the process of recording, the time it takes, the number and roles of other people present.
