Security Risks at Live Events

Organisers of BBC live events should take into account the security risks faced by individuals and the organisation when planning the broadcast of a live event, wherever it takes places. Many of the same security risks faced by the Corporation at its facilities may be transferred to an outside broadcast depending on the nature of the risk, and the location of the event.

BBC Corporate Security publishes a Security Alert State, where details of the threat from terrorism to the Corporation are explained and counter measures described. Corporate Security can also provide advice on risks and threats faced by broadcasters in specific areas or locations.

Managers and producers of live events are encouraged, when carrying out an assessment of the security risks faced by the programme, to make contact with the Corporate Security Team in BBC Safety.

The Event Personal Security Checklist is a quick way to help you decide what is needed and to document what is in place.
