Key Points

  • All combustion facilities at BBC premises must be adequately maintained to prevent the release of 'dark smoke' or causing a nuisance.
  • All combustion facilities at BBC premises must have the relevant authorisations covering both the design of the approval of the design and the height of the chimney.
  • All BBC premises must meet the requirements of Part L of the Building Regulations.
  • Any BBC premises where the installed combustion capacity exceeds 20 MW [individually] or where the installed combustion capacity exceeds 50MW [aggregated] must be covered by a Pollution Prevention Control [PPC] Permit.
  • Any BBC premises where the installed combustion capacity exceeds 20 MW is required to operate within the requirements of the EU Emissions Trading Scheme.
