Key Points

There must be satisfactory arrangements to control any animal that has been allowed on to BBC premises.
 
For recording on BBC premises:
  • Obtain clearance from premises manager.
  • Performing animals should be obtained from a reputable animal handler.
  • Ensure the animal is under the control of a competent person.
  • Ensure that welfare arrangements for the animal are in place.
  • Carry out a risk assessment and provide the results to those who may be affected e.g. through the schedule or briefing on the day.
  • Ensure that the animal has relevant licenses e.g. DWA.
For recording on location:
  • The location.
  • The specific wildlife you are to record.
  • Use an experienced crew.
  • Put special arrangements in place for filming at night.
