Management of Security
Corporate Security Management
The BBC's Executive Direction Group (EDG)
agrees and reviews the Security Policy. The Director of
Occupational Risk Management develops and maintains BBC security
standards through the Management Committee for Occupational Risk
Compliance (MCORC).
Divisional Chief Executives and Directors will
assign a senior manager to take responsibility for security within
their Division.
Stakeholders (i.e. outsourced businesses,
wholly owned subsidiaries, business partners, associates,
contractors, etc.) shall appoint a senior manager with
responsibility for security.
A senior Facilities Manager will be allocated
responsibility for security issues in each BBC building and
individual programme Producers when operating away from BBC
premises.
Programme Producers have responsibility for
security when operating away from BBC premises. Staff employed or
contracted to the BBC, contributors and visitors, must comply with
security policy and procedures.
The Director BBC People approves any ongoing
specialist security advice, protection or support arrangements for
high profile or senior staff.
The Head of Corporate Security ensures
that:
- arrangements are in place for the investigation of breaches of security, including criminal, malicious and hostile acts;
- produces and regularly reviews a Corporate Threat Assessment to determine the Security Response Level (Normal to Exceptional) for the BBC;
- communicates the Security Response Level to those managing buildings and other relevant managers; communicates specific security risks/threats to Division Managers;
- advises on the provision of external specialist security services which are not normally available through routine BBC resources; and
- establishes arrangements for specialist personal protection, advice and support, as necessary.
