Audience and Visitor Security
Public Open Days
Events such as London Open House and its
heritage open day equivalent in the Nations & Regions require
an individual security risk assessment and planning so as not to
compromise the security of our people and premises.
The precautions must be carried out in a way
that will not adversely affect the welcome the BBC wishes to offer
members of the public.
Depending on the BBC Security Response Level in place at
the time, visitors to these events must undergo security searches
and bag checks by trained staff. If the venue does not have
metal arch detectors and x-ray baggage scanners installed, the
screening must be carried out with the use of handheld metal
detectors and visual bag checks at side tables.
Searches of persons by hand are not
normally carried out at BBC premises.
