Entrance Points

Entrance points can be staffed by either Security Staff or Receptionists according to the "customer image" or deterrent effects required.  Reception areas should be provided with a system whereby visitors cannot proceed beyond the reception point without the direct action or authority of the receptionists, e.g., remote release doors or electronic access controlled inner doors.

A BBC-wide access control system is in place throughout the UK property estate. In normal circumstances all BBC staff and authorised contractors will be issued with access control (ID) cards. Ordinarily, visitors to BBC sites are not issued access control cards.  All visitors should be escorted from the point of entry.  Electronic access control is normally fitted where there is a requirement for auditable records of door use and/or frequent usage by large numbers of people.

Disciplinary use of the access control system is covered by an Investigation Service/BBC People HR Policy. Consult your BBC People HR Manager for advice.
