Waste Storage and
Disposal
Storage of
Waste
When waste is stored on a BBC premises or a location:
- Use an appropriate container for the materials stored. This must be fit for purpose and clearly labelled with product type, maximum capacity and both health and safety and environment protection information.
- Locate storage facilities away from watercourses, open drains, gullies, un-surfaced areas or porous surfaces.
- Protect containers from impact damage where necessary.
- Provide security measures for the site and storage areas to prevent illegal or unauthorised deposit of waste, vandalism and theft. Storage system valves, taps, hatches or lids and delivery hoses should be fitted with locks and locked shut when not in use. Where possible materials should be stored in secure buildings.
