• Arranging for a unified Waste Inventory (or waste register) containing descriptions of all wastes produced on a site; who or what section Produced it and how and where it is stored.
• Retaining evidence that carriers and disposal companies handling each waste stream are properly authorised [copies of Waste Carriers Registrations and/or Waste Management Licenses].
• Ensuring that a hazardous waste registration certificate is in place if a site produces hazardous waste (or, in the case of an office, over 200kg of hazardous waste in any year).

The Nominated Responsible Person must ensure that appropriate information is provided, including:

• Providing clear instructions to all staff on how and where hazardous waste can be disposed of.
• Where waste streams are stored on site [by a site plan clearly showing Waste Storage Facilities].
• What waste can be disposed of in 'general waste' facilities. Personnel engaged in waste related activities should be identified and given appropriate instruction and training in emergency responses.

• All waste streams are appropriately categorised and described on the Duty of Care Transfer Notes and Hazardous Waste Consignment Notes.
• Responsibility and authority for completion of transfer and consignment notes for each waste stream are clearly defined.
• Responsibilities and site systems for retaining copies of all transfer and consignment notes are clearly defined.

• All storage facilities are inspected on a regular basis at appropriate frequencies.
• Inspection findings are recorded along with records of any actions taken.
