Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances
The BBC where it manufacturers, sells, or distributes [this includes importing for its own use] electrical and electronic equipment containing:
- lead
- mercury
- cadmium;
- hexavalent chromium;
- polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs); or
- polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs).
The BBC must ensure that products and product
components comply with the requirements of the Restriction of use
of Certain Hazardous Substances Regulations 2005.
This includes:
- Large household appliances
- Small household appliances
- IT and telecommunication equipment
- Consumer equipment
- Lighting equipment
- Electrical and electronic tools (with the exception of large scale stationary industrial tools)
- Toys, leisure and sports equipment
- Automatic dispensers
The BBC must be able to demonstrate compliance
by submitting technical or other information to the enforcing
authority on request. The BBC must retain such documentation for
four years after the Electrical Equipment is placed on the
market.
