Management of Security

Security is the provision of information and protective countermeasures so that the BBC's people, property and productions may be free from the danger of crime and terrorism.

Protective measures are designed to mitigate security threats by the application of legislation, British Standards, insurance provisions, and security industry best practice.  Non-adherence may cause harm to people, disruption to programmes, damage or property loss, breach of insurance requirements or legislation, possibly leading to legal action and damaging publicity.

The BBC requires business partners, associates, contractors and suppliers to achieve appropriate standards of security at places and premises occupied by BBC staff, contributors, and the public.  The appropriate quality level will be measured against the standards contained in the BBC Security Policy Codes of Practice.
