New and Expectant Mothers

This topic is aimed at new and expectant mothers and managers or Producers who have staff who are new or expectant mothers. It gives advice about the hazards of BBC work activities which need to be reviewed when a member of staff informs you that she is pregnant, recently given birth, or breastfeeding.

Pregnancy is a healthy state. However, there are some aspects of work that can affect the safety of new and expectant mothers. In some circumstances there may also be a risk to the child. For instance those who are pregnant are at an increased risk of injury when lifting and carrying, and the jolts experienced when riding in vehicles off road may increase the risk of miscarriage.
