Infectious Diseases

Staff who have been in contact with an infectious disease or who develop symptoms which are thought to be as a result of contact with infectious or contagious diseases should consult their own doctor immediately, and not report for duty until medical advice has been obtained on whether it is necessary for them to remain away from work. If they are well, but believe that they have been exposed to infection as a consequence of their work activities, they should phone occupational health for advice.

ALERT

Currently we are at Phase 3 of the WHO Pandemic alert scale, i.e. there are human infections with a new subtype, but no new human-to-human spread, or at most rare instances of spread to a close contact.  The BBC will alter its activities (in the UK and overseas) based on the pandemic phase.

The risk to travellers is believed to be very low, and currently there are no restrictions for staff travelling to H5N1 affected areas.
