Confined Spaces

Confined spaces are not simply areas or rooms with little space (e.g. the back of a taxi or a cupboard), but are rooms, pits, tunnels, tanks or other enclosures which present significant health and safety risks, usually because the air inside is not safe to breathe. In the UK, on average 15 people a year die whilst working in confined spaces. These guidelines help you to recognise what is a confined space and what you need to do if you are planning a job, whether it is for Facilities Management or Programme Production and wish to enter one.
